UNICEF Office for Croatia organized 4th meeting “Schools without violence” on 11 and 12 November 2010 in Zagreb. As our school has been engaged in the Project for safe and encouraging school environment, our representatives participated in the seminar in Zagreb.
Our teachers took part in two ICT Education workshops organized on 9 and 16 November.
This is the week in the month of November when we remember The Croatian War of Independence and its greatest sacrifice, the town of Vukovar, which is the symbol of suffering, pain and tears but also of love and hope. People from all over Croatia come to Vukovar these days,to light candles for those who are dead, missing, lost and displaced.
It was our Croatian teacher, Ms Nasiha Bajrovic, who suggested that we should dedicate some time to this town.
On Friday, 29 October 2010, there was the Fruits of the earth closing ceremony in the hall of our school. Our students, members of the drama and reciting group and the school choir trained by our experienced teachers, performed the school play.
There are many things that school children can learn ouside the classroom. One of those things is how to evacuate the school building in case of emergency such as earthquake. On Friday 7 May 2010 we conducted an evacuation drill in our school. We all knew it was going to happen but we didn't know the exact day or hour, so we were anxious to see how it would work out for us.
This year our school anniversary was on March 26. We had a students' artwork exibition in the school building hall and some sports events in the playground in the morning as usual. But the highlight of the day most certainly was a show designed not to be a formal event. It was a supertalent show in the concert hall at The Dom kulture and it has never been that crowded before. Students, teachers, parents and grandparents came to support their favourite performers.
